Perception in sports is often percieved as reality. Once a narrative gets built around someone its hard to shake it off. People in power making decisions are often as educated as casual fans. They often "guess" and go with the popular choice. Owners have the ultimate power. None of them know football. So thats why. They was lazy to evaluate De Gea. Just rolled with the narrative. We seen many crappy goalkeepers remain starters in big teams. We seen many great ones get burried in the depth chart for years. I mean Kepa was the most expensive of them all

@@erikpuka2627 True, but in this case I don't think so, there was no way he was going to get anything close to what United were paying him...he probably realized that after a whole season out and lowered his demands, because there was significant interest after he left, even United wanted to keep him but on lower wages so negotiations broke down mid season.

I wrote last week that only if this AC Milan team beats Fiorentina and Udinese comfortably will I accept that there's been any progress. Rossoneri were becoming so happy vesting Lecce. But no, we are still in a stage similar to the banter era where we have some miraculous performances but slump to defeats to mid teams in Serie A. The Derby win looks more and more like an upset than something repeatable. A top 4 finish looks like a gift the way things are going.
