Batigol! The greatest striker in my childhood memories

He is a Serie A legend. I always liked him in Fiorentina shirt, but I remember him as part of that Fabio Capello's Roma side that won the Serie A along with Totti and Cafu

Batigol is the reason why I started to watch and then love football. So sad to seeing him ageing. It feels like the whole of your childhood memories washed away. Seems like just yesterday when I cried knowing that he injured himself during an important match against AC Milan in San Siro. Fiorentina was so close to clinch the Serie A. They never able to recover after that match and then lost the title. Couple of seasons after, he joined AS Roma in 2000. I remember sending him a letter from Indonesia. No reply. But the joy of writing that letter and the excitement pays it off. Thanks Batigol for all the joy you shared throughout your wonderful career! Thanks Serie A for making this post! Batistuta is one of the best strikers I've ever seen. He was playing in italy at a time when you had to be World-Class just to get into the squad. To be honest he could have played in any team & could have won everything. But I respect Batistuta as a man because when Fiorentina got relagated he stayed & bought them back up when most players in his position would have left.

Yes i think that's the right words. Passionate loyalty. Bati's loyalty is second to none. He coming to fiorentina when he's already a star winner of Copa America. While in fiorentina he win 2 Copa America and finish at top scorer 2 times. Still he doesn't want to change club and remain loyal. Nowadays, best players would always playing for the best clubs. But not him. I believe Bati could win numerous titles and maybe one ballon d'or if he move to milan, MU or madrid earlier in his career as i know those team approach him once. But Bati has won something else. It is the heart of the football fans, especially Fiorentina's. Not many players are greeted in these way, years after the players retired. Not even, let say Ronaldo the phenomenon in milan or in Madrid. And speaking about loyalty, i like how Bati and his wife.
